Day 26 – Having Clear Goals

  • Date: January 26, 2024

Day 26 of the 2024 yearbook!

Today let’s talk about ‘Having Clear Goals”

Ok, so today I want to talk about having clear goals when you start building a business online. It doesn’t matter what online business you are trying to build (YouTube, Instagram, KDP, Dropshipping, Blogging, and so on) because if you don’t have a clear goal at the end of it, then you probably won’t achieve anything!

Examples of clear goals:
I want to earn $5k per month
I want to quit my 9-5
I want to build a better life
I want to grow my followers to 10k
I want to become a best-seller
I want to grow my blog to 10K monthly visitors

Now to reach any of the goals you have, you also need to have a clear plan of how you will reach that goal BUT without the goal in the first place, you may struggle to achieve what you are looking for. If you start building a business online with the mindset of “I’ll see what happens’ / ‘It would be nice to make $100 a month” / “I’ll just do this & see if it works'” and so on, then you’ll get stuck in a cycle of jumping from one thing to the next to see if something works or sticks and before you know it, you would have wasted so much time just jumping from one thing to the next, that you just give up and stick to the day job!

So do the research before you start building an online business, then write down (actually write it down on paper or a notebook) the goal you want to achieve from starting that online business, and then basically work your way through the steps to achieve that goal. The size of the goal doesn’t matter because at the end of the day, that’s all personal choice, and what fits you, won’t fit someone else.

Say you want to earn $100 a month on YouTube, write down the steps you will need to take to get there:
– YouTube Channel (name, logo, banner)
– Long-form content
– Short-form content
– 500 Subs
– 3,000 watch hours

Now the above is just to get you started and request to be part of the YouTube partner program. If you then get approved, you will need another set of steps to reach the $100 month goal, now these steps could be very small & could be completed very quickly but it will depend on the content you produce and how many views you get per video and so on.

But as you can see, if you write the goals down in a notebook so you can look at the daily/weekly and tick them off once you have completed them, it will give you more motivation to keep pushing and keep moving forward with actually completing the goals you have set.

Small steps can lead to big success!
